This strictly limited wine was sourced from the outstanding and very low-yielding 100+ year old “Mandic” vineyard owned by third generation growers the Marshall family, in the classic Barossa Valley sub-region of Kalimna.

Only new and second year French Oak was used in the maturation of this Shiraz which was picked at optimum ripeness and fermented dry after an initial period of cold soaking on skins to extract maximum colour and flavour. With 24 months in barrel the wine was bottled with minimal filtration.

The 2010 Kalimna “Old Vine” Shiraz is a deeply coloured wine showing the saturated sweet -red/black berry character you would expect of this aged vineyard. It’s spiced notes tie together perfectly with age-worthy fine tannins and fine natural acid, all in balance.  Beautifully long, this wine epitomizes the totally satisfying, saturated Barossa ‘Old Vine’ character.  The Cult had been born.

The artwork brief for the design of this wine pack was for our Industrial Designers to capture the essence of Dracula who was incorporated into the label artwork. The pack was shaped like a coffin in order to give that Transylvanian feel. The overall theme was carried through to the photoshoot which was located at Kew Cemetery with our own trusty vampire on hand to model. As you can see, joining the cult is an absolutely terrifying prospect.
